Can you see the Dragon Mermaid (or Sea Serpent) on the handle above? It took me a while to discover it. Look toward the clasp end and then work to the left. I could see the fish scales, but it was not until a worked with the above photo that I saw the oriental dragon head above the scales and the swish of the mermaid tail wrapped around the handle. This pattern is from 1893 and called "Columbia" from 1847 Rogers Brothers. How striking it still is after 123 years!
Antique Silverware Bracelets:
I have always loved antique silverware and have collected many pieces over the years that I use in my home. I felt sad that odd pieces with so much history and beauty might go from the antique shop back into another drawer. I started actively seeking out these pieces and alternate uses for them. I found several gorgeous pieces on a trips to California and Australia. Tracking down the pattern name and date is often a challenge and requires online research. Some of these pieces have become earrings and bracelets while others found new life as key chains and multi purpose Fork Stands. Click on the "More" tab above to see my Antique Silverware Gift Items.

Antique German Silverware Spoon Handle Bracelet

VSF90 - that is all I had to go on printed on the handle. I discovered it stands for Vereinigte Silberwaren Fabriken AG from Dusseldorf, Germany. 90 indicates it is silver plate. This pattern was made from 1901-1965. I believe these were manufactured after WWII but sometime before the company became Gebruder Bahner after 1965. How did these beautiful spoons from Dusseldorf, Germany end up in San Diego California? I finished the bracelet with faceted Howlite Beads that I bought in Thailand earlier in the year.
