Antique Silverware Re-purposed
I have always loved antique silverware and have collected many pieces over the years that I use in my home. I felt sad that odd pieces with so much history and beauty might go from the antique shop back into another drawer. I started actively seeking out these pieces and alternate uses for them. I found several gorgeous pieces on a trip to California. I discovered more on several trips to Australia. Tracking down the pattern name and date is often a challenge and requires online research. Some of these pieces have become earrings and bracelets while others found new life as key chains and multi purpose Fork Stands. Click on the "Bracelet" or "Earrings" tabs above to see more antique silverware pieces.

Thanks to a friend who shared this idea, several antique dessert forks bought in Australia and butter knives from California have become an elegant way to label cheese when entertaining. The forks have been flattened and can be easily inserted to label Cheddar, Swiss, and Goat cheeses. The butter knife is a great label and spreader for Brie cheese. The cheese names have been hand stamped on the handle of each piece. Each set is silver plated and dishwasher safe.
